Skivate – S ointment contains Clobetasol and Salicylic Acid which belongs to corticosteroids and a keratolytic group of drugs. The former drug works as an anti-inflammatory by inhibiting the metabolism of arachidonic acid by inhibiting phospholipase A2 thus inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators like prostaglandins and leukotrienes. The latter drug works by breaking down keratin clumps and further remove dead skin cells and softens the skin. Also, it increases the Clobetasol absorption into the skin.
Mechanism of Action:
Clobetasol with salicylic acid combines the anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictive activity of Clobetasol with the keratolytic effects of salicylic acid
Indications:
Skivate – S Ointment provides anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and keratolytic activity in the topical management of
- Psoriasis
- Dermatitis
- Eczema
Application:
Skivate – S Ointment: A thin film of Skivate – S Ointment should be applied to cover completely the affected area. The ointment should be massaged gently and thoroughly into the skin. The usual frequency of application is twice daily, in the morning and at night.
For some patients, adequate maintenance may be achieved with less frequent application.
Skivate – S Ointment should not be used under occlusive dressing.
Children below 12 years should not use it at all. Make sure that you do not apply the ointment on your face, groin or underarms, unless mentioned by the doctor. You should not discontinue the medication suddenly and seek the help of a doctor before doing so.
Composition:
Clobetasol Propionate 0.05% w/w and Salicylic Acid 3% w/w
Side Effects:
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Skivate – S Ointment is used to treat the redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort of various skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
Apply to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily, or as advised by your doctor.
Don’t cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
After you have applied Skivate – S Ointment, remember to wash your hands (unless your hands are the treated area).
Use a mild moisturizer regularly to overcome the skin dryness during the course of treatment.
Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after 2 weeks of treatment.
